  • Serp belt comes off in wet weather..

So the title says it all. In wet weather the serp belt comes off. Its a brand new belt, paid $30 bucks over the cheapie, and have never had this problem before. I don't want to beleive that it could the the tensioner pulley, since I replaced that along with the serp belt, but I have my suspisions. Does anyone have any alternatives?

It's either got to be misaligned pulleys or a weak tensioner. I doubt that it can be anything else. I'm betting it's a weak tensioner.

I agree with Rob. I'd just check to make sure you've got it on all the pullies right too, the micro-v belts look right even when they are one notch off. Double check the part number. I've bought a new belt at the parts store and nearly walked out the door before realizing it was an old used one that someone must have returned to the store (and the guy behind the counter put back on the shelf!!!).

I checked the belt this morning, exact match. I should have known better than to put anything from duralast on my car. I knew the pulley looked a little low when the engine was running.... I swear god has it out for my car... like a calling for a 5th gen.... but who the hell wants a zeta platform, when ours takes so much more to tame, lol

          thanks for the help guys

I bought a new belt from NAPA a few months ago and had problems. The part numbers their computer spit out were for belts 1/2 to 3/4 inch to big. I even changed my tensioner thinking it was bad. I couldn't figure why I was still having problems until I looked at the specs of their belts compared them to other stores. I ordered the belt by length instead of by application and it solved my problem.
