I have a lot of oil around the pan. I think it was just push through from the PCv being badwith the previous owner. I was thinking of backing off and retorqueing the bolts.
But I have tranny, flywheel, etc... All out and car is on jacks waiting for my clutch parts in the mail.
I see its a pain... My question how are people "lifting" there engines. I have 2 floor jacks bit no hoist. Any tips?
Use a jack on the pass. side to clear the K , should be straight forward from there, a new gasket isn't that much , probably worth getting a new pan gasket since your giong to be in there.

Is there a specific mounting point to jack it?
Also do you have to pull the pan fully or do you just jack it, and seperate the pan, then just slip it in.
Also do you undo the motor mounts? One, and rotate the engine up, or do you undo them both and jack the whole engine up?'
Its been awhile, I think it was just the passenger mount and jack the right side of the K member until the pan is clear. Its been almost 10 years so don't quote me on it.

i've done mine with a floor jack and i've lifed my engine.
didn't really understand your first post...but if you dont know for sure if your pan is leaking i would really leave it alone.....you are just going to open up an entire can of horrible worms

the car does not leak oil on the ground.
But there is oil around some of the bolts and oil pan, like it would have a leak. when I changed the PCV valve, it was trashed. I believe when the car belonged to the previous owner, since the PCV was trashed, the crankcase had too much pressure and "seeped" some oil past the seals. Its not that uncommon.
Its looking like too much of a pain to deal with. I think I will just clean it up, and make sure all the bolts are snug. I already planned to do a rear main.
I had no indications that either of these were bad, just noticing it as I pulled the tranny/clutch/flywheel etc... all out there was some seepage around the pan. The rear main actually looks ok, but to be sure since there is seepage in the area, going to do it anyways.
