Okay so I kinda gave up my quest to make a toggle switch and just want my fans t work properly. I went outside and turned my ac to the max and the fans didn't come on then I unplugged my ect sensor and they still failed to come on.... what's going on!

Re: cooling fan trouble shooting
you have a 3.4 correct? if you do i also have a 3.4 and the fans only come on right before it gets to the red zone on the temp gauge...in digits its right before 230..soo like around 225-228 it comes on....it doesnt matter if you have your a/c on or not...they only activate around there...soo if the temp gets there and there not on then you should be worried...i have a 3.4 with 180 t-stat and soo far this summer i had no reason to make a manual fan control

Re: cooling fan trouble shooting
I would investigate this, you don't want your car overheating. I believe there is a separate sensor for the temp gauge and the computer. You need to check the one for the computer, or just replace it, they probably are not that expensive. It's odd though, that your fans do not come on even with the AC on. If it's not that temp sensor and you cannot still figure it out, I would consider taking it in, at least for a diagnosis.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

Re: cooling fan trouble shooting
I did the toggle switch on mine. I only need it when I'm not running the a/c though. My fan comes on with the a/c no matter what the engine temp is and it always had even before I needed the switch.

Re: cooling fan trouble shooting
Well I'm just gon say f it and wire a toggle straight to the fan. Ima get a 50amp switch and some 10 guage wire I just want to know should I wire a fuse in and if so where and what ampage? I was also thinking I would just wire the fans straight to the battery and use a tap on the positive and link it to the switch that way..... none of the other options are working

Re: cooling fan trouble shooting
You can do it that way and it will work fine. You shouldn't need a fuse if you wire it properly where it can't short out on anything. But it is always safer if you do. There is a simpler way way to do it though if you search the forums you will find it.

I know my fans come on with the A/C, works well, I have the wiring kit from I think Caspers that I have a high and low swicth. Works outstanding in the AZ heat.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
