Put the car on the rollers with the car not hooked up to the ministry to see if I would pass....car runs clean as hell for the driving test (made me feel great about my own tune) However the idle test my Hydo carbons are through the roof...limit is like 200 or so and I'm at almost 300...that was idling at stoich on the AFR, as well as we pulled the vacuum line and leaned it right out to about 17-18afr at idle and it didnt help any...

Anyone know how I might be able to get the HC count down?...

It would be worth your while to do a little research on acetone as a fuel additive.

Raise the idle RPM and retard the idle timing.

how does the emissions testing there compare to here in the US?

we manually raised the idle to max and I am only sparking 13* at idle...I dont know how much lower I can go?

I've read about guys using methyl hydrate, but apparently that just lowers the NoX, not the HCO...unless acetone is different?

Then a MSD DIS 4 would help clean up the idle.

is there a way to do coil per cylinder setup on our car with that?

Explain what you mean by per coil set up.

                      Re: emissions and reducing HCO

I improved my HC and NoX levels by installing a new catalytic converter and O2 sensor.

Another trick is to add a pint of denatured alcohol to a 1/4 tank of super unleaded as well before the emissions test.

Go with single electrode spark plugs versus those fancy 2,3,4 pronged spark plugs. Can't fool electricity, it follows the path of least resistance. I enjoy crisp starts with my AC Delco Iridiums.

similar to an LSx setup I guess....6 coils, 1 per cylinder, rather than what we have right now which is 1 pack per 2 cylinders...

Ours operates on what is known as waste spark.

HCO usually means the cat is out.

The Dis 4 doesn't have the ability to fire 6 coils.

Not possible considering the ICM and PCM are controlling only three coils. You need to find a way to control 6, and you're going to need more than just an MSD DIS-4. Wouldn't see the point unless you're building something insane....
