  • Wiper linkage comes apart

I did a 98 nose swap on my 97 to fix my crash. When the car got into the accident the aluminum cast drivers side wiper linkage bracket broke. I took a 98 bracket off the donor car and it all fits fine.

However, the ball and socket on the new bracket disconnects from the passenger side wiper linkage whenever there is a load on the drivers wiper.

Is there a special clip that keeps the ball and socket together? Or is a replacement wiper socket offered? Im thinking mine is just wore out.

Well, I havn't taken mine apart, but I'll post what I could find from the comfort of my chair. I looked at a parts manual and did not "see" any clip as indicated by the diagrams. I also checked out Haynes and as you probably already know, they aren't specific. From my arm chair view, it looks as if it's just a snap together ball-and-socket.

Is the socket connection loose? Perhaps the socket is damaged? Can you post a few pictures of the unit?

Sorry I can't be more useful than a bump for the topic.

I ended up finding out if theres a bit of gunk in the bottom of the socket it will get really hard to push together and will only go together after you clean it out. It was so dark under there I didnt see it. It is also deceptive that it will feel like it is together when it really isnt.
