  • oil problem

    i have a 96 3.8 camaro and i thought my oil pump was goin out but the mechanic said i have a clog in the oil system. whats the easiest way/cheapest way to fix it???

    well wheres the clog? replacing the pump is pretty easy, it's right behind/attached to the front cover...

    2002 SOM Z28 Camaro - 12.9 @ 104 mph

      I had the same problem need to drop oil pan, clean oil pan because you will have oil build up. No need to change oil pump just clean .
      Camaro V6 1999- K&N Intake System
      - 3.73 gear
      - Jet DST Programer
      - Spark plugs (Split Fire) and wires (Taylor 8.5)
      - Headers (Pace) and Y- Pipe
      - Hi Flow Cat

        there are solvent solutions. some people don't like them, some people praise them... i would give one a try, you can use seafoam, rosloan? marvel mystery oil etc. but pulling valvecover and oil pan are the best way.

          Mmmm oil sludge!

          Time to pull the covers and clean her out! Probably have it built up on the oil pickup tube screen too.

            Try Rislone...I did on my 3.8 and oil pressure is higher longer and little
            fluxuation as before.
