  • A/C Question.....

I'm getting ready to replace the a/c compressor on my 2001 Camaro. From RockAuto, for about $250 I can get a new Delphi compressor, Delco drier and orifice tube. I noticed that they offer a "variable" orifice tube for 105 degree+ climates, but it is like $32, and a regular tube is like $2. Has anyone ever used one of the variable orifice tubes? Does it make a difference that is worth the extra $30? I am in Tucson, so we get quite a few days that are above 105 degrees.

    Thanks in advance.

Our A/C works fine with the standard tube out here. VOV will improve the cooling some at idle conditions, no difference if car is moving.

Thanks Jeff. I ordered the standard tube. Couldn't justify the extra $30.
