I am at a loss, I've become quite good and diagnosing problems with my Firebird until now. I have a 1999 Firebird with the 3.8 no engine mods, just exhaust. A few weeks ago the car sputtered the tech drop to zero, while the car was still running and then it stalled out. I tried to restart it, it ran for about 10 seconds and then died, i waited about 3 minutes it fired up and I was on my way. I did this again a few days after, this time I took about 10 minutes to get it to start. I chalked it up to bad gas. The problem got worse, the motor would fire and run, but if i revved it passed 2500-3000 it cut off. Yesterday it stalled twice on me. The first it started after about 45 minutes and drove fine to my destination about 8 miles/ 10 minutes away. when leave after driving only 3 miles it stalled out again and would not restart even 2 hours after it stalled. I can hear the fuel pump prime but when i pressed the pressure relief i saw no fuel. I let it sit over night and it fired right up, but I'm afraid to drive it anywhere. What could it be and how did I test it. From what I've read it could be the Fuel filter, crank sensor, coils, relay, or ICM. How do i test these with out just buying one and seeing if that fixes the problem? any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: engine that misses and stalls
X2 on the crank/cam position sensors. Do you have any codes?
Get one of those pocket readers to see if you have any codes. Also, the relieve valve doesn't always throw pressure.
How's the power when you're driving it?

Re: engine that misses and stalls
the power while driving is great. I feel it miss once in a while, but aside from that and stalling it's fine. The Cam sensor was replaced about a year ago. The primary code is P102 so I cleaned the MAF sensor, the secondary code was a gain p102 and p341 I checked the PCV valve it rattled which means it's working and replace that. Now i'm waiting for the pb powers to soak in to pull the Balancer off. In doing so i noticed that the Oil Pressure sensor was a little askew and when i touched it IT broke. with the 341 code should i just replace the Camshaft sensor?
