  • Need help with A/C issue!

    Hey All,

I'm having an issue with my air conditioning(obviously, hence the title) and could use some help from anyone. For some reason it stopped blowing cold air. When I turn the air on, I can hear the a/c clutch come on as normal, and the air does blow just fine. The condenser, however, is not changing temperature. I checked the pressure in the system and it was fine. Over the past 4 months my a/c has been blowing less cold, and gradually getting worse(previously it blew so cold ice flakes would shoot out). The system pressure holds true and I recently changed the freon to no avail. Could this just be a bad switch or relay? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I live in Florida and am desperate for a resolution so I can drive home and not be soaked.

    Take it easy,
    Nick

Are any of the AC lines getting cold when you turn it on?

Charge it up. 134a is pretty cheap, and most cans of refrigerant come with a little gauge on them to tell you when its full.

Those gauges are useless, the 3800 holds 1lb 10 oz r134 to much/ too little it won't cool.

Your orffice tube is not working right if its blowing ice out.

As far as I can tell the A/C clutch stays on unless under heavy throttle, then it kicks off and then back on again. Yeh, when the GM dealership recharged my system about 5 years ago, it used to blow out small ice flakes, it was nice! I put fresh freon in the system, and there is no change. None of the lines or the condenser gets cold or even changes temperature.

You need to put gauges on it at this point in order to get an idea of what the problem is.
