  • Fuel pump questions

OK I need a little assistance. I own a 1996 Camaro that is undergoing a few "updates". Recently the fuel pump took the big dump on me. Today I found a great deal on a fuel pump from a 1999 bird. I jumped on it, only to find that the housing is different. Not a big deal, I pulled the pump from the housing to put it in the housing from my 96. I found that the pump from the 99 has an extra nipple on it that mine did not have. What is this? Can this pump even be used in my 96 or am I just spitting into the wind with this? I understand that these can be purchased new fairly easy, but as I said I got a raging deal on this one. I can return it if needed so no skin off my back (other than time lost). Just wanting to know if this will work or not. Also, what are the repercussions of removing the bucket and installing the pump without it? Thanks as always for the assistance.
