  • Coolant leak by fuel injector

On my 2000 Camaro 3.8 with almost 100,000 miles I have a coolant leak in which a small amount of coolant puddles up in the intake manifold crevice located by fuel injector #3 (center on the driver's side). I've been reading up on it and apparently this is a common problem caused by a bad lower intake manifold gasket, see reference:

My leak is in the same general area as the picture in my reference, however in comparison mine seems to be a smaller leak confined to a specific area. This is evidenced by the Dex-Cool puddle in my picture below. I'm looking for thoughts and suggestions on the topic but more importantly some guidelines on this repair. Thanks.

Intake gasket leak. Mine puddled in the same areas. Replace lower and upper intake gaskets. I used the metal lower intake gaskets, they're the problem solver set by Felpro.

Thanks for the response WarShrike, I thought it was probably the LIM and I'm glad you could confirm this. I can't seem to find the Felpro problem solver set, just two different LIM gasket sets which I can't tell the difference between.

I'd appreciate it if you can steer me towards a place that sells the Felpro problem solver set.

Did a little more looking and found a similar thread that you posted in before WarShrike. Based on your pretty pictures it looks like I've got a helluva a lot of work to do next weekend and that the good aluminum Felpro LIM gasket is in the second link that I posted.

Good job on the detective work. I post on too many forums to remember exact locations I leave nuggets of wisdom like that. Take your time get it real clean and use a good bit of TV on the corners where the Kim gaskets meet with the valley gaskets.
