so yea im new here n looking forward to learning alto from every one here.

so far this is my story guys.

i saved up money seance i was 14 to buy a car when it came to what car i dint know. 2 years later as im walking by some lots that were selling cars. i see a red fire bird and i asked the dude how much he said 2500 so a week later i bought it.

but it had problems. number one the transmition grinned in 3rd gear so i fixed that ($300).

then the fuel pump went out(300).

next i noticed the front tires from the inside were bald so bad that wires were coming out i got some used ones (200)

next while my step dad was driving it and he noticed the car was smoking. so he pulled over and the radiator literaly popped and broke , in the inside the radiator was built up or root replaced it that was (120).

at the same time my head gaskets went out. so over the summer the car sat there :(. and finally i had the money to fix it so i did. but the person did a poor job and while i was on the freeway the engine locked up and the dude ran off and i never saw him again(700).:( so i swapped out the engine, soposely it has 83,000 miles but it dosent look like it(1200).

so pretty mutch i save this car from death. YES im proud of my car. and all but i get made fun for having a v6. all my friends have a v8.

to me it don't matter this is my first car but i also want to drag race in it. any ideas where to start?(my car is 100% stock)

also about a week ago i was goin 50 and hit a dip and broke the bolts off of the header (driver side) connecting it to the y pipes should i buy new ones or just get used ones?
also my car is showing codes of the o2 sensors should i replace or try to clean the?

sorry this was so long but i would appreciate the input

first off, holy **** i can barely read what you typed. everything runs into the next thing and half of it has me thinking im drunk. please post next time in a manner thats not a mess.

2nd- stickers- got to go. they are tacky

3rd - car looks good. im a fan of red birds as you can see below.

    all that said.

buy new bolts, replace the sensors and stop worrying about what your buddies have to say. before you do ANY modding, get your ducks in a row and get the car running in tip top shape, no point in modding a car and it runs like ****. what kind of drag racing are you looking to do? start with the basics, intake, headers catback. read read and read some more on these cars. dont throw money at it. the v6s can be pretty quick with the right parts you just have to know what youre getting into.

current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it

thanks man. and sorry about the run ons i got carried away.
as of drag racing i want to do 1/4 miles. and the stickers i know are a problem i tried to take them off but they left the glue behind any idea of how to remove so it wont leave a mess.
as of the o2 sensor which are the best pick of all of them.
and how would i know its runing tip top shape?
as of now if i drive alot when i turn on my car its takes about a minute or to to run smoth it stars of like slowly runing n goes to norman.

You also need to decide what route you're going to take. No point in getting headers if you decide to Turbo because you'll have to replace them again. N/A they can be pretty quick but the faster you go the less street friendly it will be so F.I. is the best way for the 3.8 IMO...

Personally I just stuck a cheap truck V8 in mine...

                    btw whats the S3 mean?

The Series III 3800 was NEVER used in a F-body. You have a Series II.

^He said he replaced the motor, I think lol. Welcome man, I'm new here as well, that's some bad luck, sometimes it pays to have bought one for a little more money with a little less mileage/owners, but **** happens.

First for the stickers, they make like a goo-gone stuff, my buddy uses it, sometimes a hair dryer and some flexible plastic, maybe a putty knife will work too, be careful not to heat it too much or you'll ruin the paint.

As for running good, plugs/wires, stock coils are really good, but make sure they're in good shape. New fuel filter, new sensors, and all should be well. As for the tires, make sure the front end stuff isn't worn out and the car is properly aligned, they shouldn't wear that badly on the inside and not be worn as much in the center/outside.

Next, the junkyard is your friend with this car. They're old enough that a few are always there, but not as big of a market as Honda's and things, so generally they're not completley stripped after a day or 2 of sitting. If you have a 2 piece driveshaft find a 1 piece, even a steel 1 piece should cut a tenth off your et. Gears are big with these cars, if you have a posi rear, then you most likely have 3:23 or 3:42's, if you don't, you can find gears or even a whole rear in the junkyard on any 4th gen f-body, 2wd or 4wd s10/Jimmy/Blazer, the fronts on the 4wd(not sure on the rear axle) are 10 bolts. They can have 3:42's, 3:73's, and 4:10's. They are all good for a tenth to a few tenths off your et.

Look on Craigslist/forums for other parts, go on ebay/amazon for a cold air intake, a few hp and a little better mpg, mine cost me $60, works as good/better than my friends K and N that he paid a few hundred for. Exhaust is a matter of opinion, I would say if you only have a visual inspection, hollow the cat, change the muffler (a glasspack and no cat sounds amazing on these cars). Just buy a muffler and have a shop do the piping, it'll be way cheaper than buying a catback. My total investment was 80 dollars for my side-exit exhaust and a glasspack, I did the cat myself and a buddy welded it for me.

Besides that, a 180* thermostat and a tune from PCMforLess will be good. I'm running a 15.6 consistently with these modes. If your not gonna run the car in the twisty's, summit sells drag shocks and springs pretty cheap, and you can disconnect the front sway bar on one side in a minute or 2 for better traction/weight transfer. Get a v8 rear sway bar from the junkyard as well and leave the v6 front sway bar on, again this is for drag racing though, if you won't it to handle well in the corners don't do that lol.

The list goes on and on, but that'll get you going pretty well, lastly, tell your buddys to F*** OFF!!!! :)
