My fuel pump decided to stop working the other day. It's a big job to change it so it made me question if I can just add an electric aftermarket pump on the fuel line and not worry about dropping the gas tank?

    Re: fuel pump

Im sure someone else will have better advice, but ive seen many people cut a square in the metal above the tank (behind the back seat ) to get access to it. Id make sure to look into it more and be careful. Good luck though

      Re: fuel pump

I have done it both ways. I dropped the tank out which invovled dropping the rear, and the second time I cut the hole. It's one hour of work vs 5.

Cutting the hole is so much easier to do, its the only way I would do it again.

Thanks guys. Is it best just to get an OEM pump? Any benefits to aftermarket?

Stock should be fine, I would look on ebay, no sense paying double at the dealership.

Do you have to drop the axles if you don't do the cut-out or just the muffler?

Muffler has to come down too.
