any suggestion why my bird is doing this i replaced the pump last year but used could that also be the cause?
recheck your connector to the fuel guage, sounds like intermintent connection, orsticking fule sender. fill up every 250 miles or so an you should be fine until fixed.

just a quick update i pt the car on the lift today and could not unclog the evap valve. i belive its that. but on wensday i will drop the tank and see if i am right . wish me luck f.y.i ( i can only put in 2 dollas a day before it spits out )
update on this, i will finally put a new pump on my bird found out i had a bad sending unit and will be dropping the tank on Wensday or Thursday this next week. would yall like me to take pics of the process or no,( i will have access to air tools and a lift)
once the sending unit goes out i dont think you can repair it and you cant replace it alone you have to buy a whole new pump, which i did . and the vapor is released by the evap valve which is on top of the tank i believe ,and mine is working fine , i just have to replace the pump now, it was a used one anyways from a year ago. it had gotten replaced this time, im not taking any chances, and also if i would drive more than 60 miles in a day my car would start to lobe bad and it because the fuel pump also .
definitely an odd problem. i had something similar going on with my old '99 grand cherokee and replaced the fuel filter then actually found that there was a "sweet spot" of how the gas nozzle needed to be inserted. if i had it completely in as far as it would go while fueling, it would do the same thing and "click" every few cents worth of gas and never allow me to fill up. i found the solution to be when i would put the gas nozzle in about 3/4's of the way (to the point it wouldn't spew out and was still safe) and fill the tank by manually flowing the gas a little slower instead of locking it at full flow hands-free. seemed strange and was a PITA but it worked the entire time i had the nightmare WJ.
may not be the case for you, but give it a try and see. i'll be curious to see what you find is the problem regardless.
the problem was the sending unit, it would say almost empty and i would go fill up and click like at 2 dollars, i dropped the tank like 3 months ago n it was heavy as f**k , thats when i realized its completely full and the sending unit is out. it was not reading right. it was way off to put it . so for the past 3 months i would fill up and reset my odometer and when it hits 250. then i would fill up again. now that im replacing it with an air tech one that has 2 years of warranty there should not be any problem and while its on the lift i will do a inspection from under and change my oil. but i still got 3 more days or so to do it now im just waiting to get in the shop :D
so i finally finished doing the fuel pump swap. i didnt get many picture due to the time a had to do it in so i toke some when i could here they are as asked for. these picture were taken with my crapy phone that has a 2 megapixle camera so they will be kinda blurry. enjoy

so this is the tank with the new pump in it, i had to wire it up to fit the new connection since its a aftermarket pump. it was just color to color. u can see it in the pic with the new butt connectors i guess you would call em there red and blue. the pump came with every thing so there was no shopping around.[IMG][/IMG]
and this is the old pump ( once replace used and out with the old)[IMG][/IMG]
it fixed the gauge , today it started to lobe again a gave it gas real quick and it straightened up, so now im guessing its a fuel injector. but the cars running good other than that:tup:
