  • problem is back. any help?

so today i drove my bird for about 60 miles. and handed it off to a family member because they needed a car for a day or two. it ran fine when i drove it no rough idel or anything since i fixed the vacume leak from the egr tube. it does have and engine check light that's for the o2 sensors. but any ways the person i landed the car to, drove it to their house which is about 15- 25 miles away its all freeway speed 60-70. when i drove over there and stopped at a red light the car was running good. nothing was wrong but once he got it and drove it to his house and got there. he called and told me it was at a rough idel and then i heard it turn off. i couldn't figure out why it did that i thought i had fixed that. so far it has a used fuel pump from last year and and a junk engine that's 80,000 miles and in the car for 3-4 moths, every thing is stock. any idea of what it could be? i believe its the o2 sensors or the cat being 12 years old and heating up too much? also the knock sensor is gone which i found out during my inspection i did on Friday on the lift. any input would help allot. thanks

If the cat is heating up too much it may be clogged. That may set an O2 code. My bird had a clogged cat and felt incredibly slow(-er than normal). It cut off on the freeway on me. I straighted the cat but then my maf went out. And im pretty sure you should get that knock sensor b4 diagnosing any further yaknow

Have you figured out why your bird is spitting out fuel yet?

There could be a direct or indirect relationship to that. Have you checked your evap?

I almost forgot about you spitting fuel. Problems with fuel+car running rough and shutting off=Big problem. Fix one thing at a time and you might kill two birds with one stone.

yea i drooped it in an hour by my self with air tools and it had a full tank i was like omg i needed help from my teacher to get it out it was heavy and my sending unit was out and my evap valve was clogged with dirt so i blew it with the air hose and it became unclogged it on Friday and put it back together at 4:25 on friday and this ^ happened during the week end, then on moday it started up like nothing so im like what? so i took it to school and pluged it up to the computer , everything was normal except the o2 sensor went working in bank 1 and 2 so i diagnosed it , which they weren't pluged up then they were working but one was reading higher than the other . so i cleared the code and drove it later on on moday it came back on so tomoro (wensday) im gana see why it came back on. today i didn go to school. but yesterday i also bought a new fuel pump just in case it is that. but i have not decided to swap it out yet. also on moday i put a new fuel filter on but i did not check the old one yet to see if it was cloged or anything so just gata wait and see what i find.

Good luck on the pump. I would just do the top method , pretty easy no dropping the tank.
