  • 1999 Firebird 3.8V6 - Water in driver footwell

    Hi All,

Been a while since i've been on here after selling my 1996 Camaro.

I've now bought a 1999 Firebird and have just found that there is water in the Drivers side footwell. It's not got any Antifreeze in it so looks like it's getting in when it rains (and we have a lot of that here in England)

I remember my Camaro had a similar issue and the answer somebody from here provided helped me track it down.

Any ideas where the water could be getting in? Common problem?

    Any help appreciated.

    Peter

Not really a common problem, check the weather stripping around the window.

Got the problem sorted, so if anyone else has simlar issues, check this.

It was the gromet that goes through the bulkhead with the gonnet release catch. This can be accessed through the engine bay or up through the drivers side kick panel. A bit of black silicone sealant and job done

Thats two 4th gens ive had with leaks in the footwell, one driver, one passenger that were down to bulkhead gromets. Don't know if these just crack and perish over time or with the heat but it's Worth checking, especially if you have mats down as the water goes underneath and you'd never notice it.

I don't know how you can afford to drive that car considering the price of gasoline
in GB.. here is about 2.2 pounds per US gallon or $3.56 per gallon US.

Exxon Mobile and others are making record profits far beyond any company in the world yet Republicans still support the big tax breaks they get. I guess that's why
they lose elections...but they seem not to care.
We are being held up everytime we buy gas.

What are you complaining about. Gas in my area is $4.36 regular. Why is it so expensive here in Calif., it's because the Democrats increased the gas tax. So don't turn this into a political thing and hijack the post.

Dunno what you all are complaining about. Gasoline here is £1.45 a LITRE!!

Our government takes a MASSIVE chop off the top.

I can afford it cos all my money goes on cars. I don't smoke, drink or do drugs.....i just drive.........

I lived in Calif from 1974-2002 and gas was expensive under Arnold. The big oil companies bought the independents in CA who sold for less so then you had
little choice...and the price of gas went up, up,up....just like they planned.

Hate to tell you this, but you're not in Calif. anymore....Arnold was in office from November 17, 2003 – January 3, 2011. And even if you were you should know better like the rest of us Californians that Arnold was nothing more than a liberal Democrat who likes to be known as a moderate Republican. His record proves it, including his wife.

Now let's stick to the topic.

The governor of a state does not set gasoline prices....remember that the Hummer was discontinued because of high gas prices that people passed on buying the Hummer.
That was when Bush was President. Wall street firms can control millions of gallons
of gas in the futures market by only putting up 10% of the cost...then holding it
off the market...price goes up and they sell....that's how they get rich.
