Re: Very Loud Engine Noise. Help Please!

The engine shop is playing "deaf". I played them the video and I let them listen. He was trying to tell me the idler pulley was making noise. So, I took the belt off the car and it makes the same noise. So then they said its just loud valve train. They basically want it to blow up before they do anything else. They have done the engine a total of 3 times. So Im not sure how I am going to handle it. The noise is getting gradually louder and they are pissing me off with stupid causes.

I also do not recommend revving it to 6000 RPM. Won't last long doing that.

Take it back. Get it looked at. Could be something simple.
Why is 6000 bad? I thought the engines were strong? My old 95 BMW 540i Revved to 7000 RPMs and didnt complain a bit. (stock redline @ 6250)

Unless its reprogramed, its only reving to 5700 rpms.

It is Hypertech Max energy tuned. It shifts @ 6000 RPM. Still shouldn't make that noise though.

Have another (well-known) shop listen to it and get their opinion on paper then threaten them with a lawsuit. They need to step up and fix whatever it is they did wrong.

They are strong. But if it's your daily driver and you rely on it, then there is really no need for pushing 6000 RPM. You will shorten the life of it for sure.

Here are some more videos of the car running. I had some people listen and I have gotten responses that it was the valve train. Taking it to mak Haik tomorrow.

There is also a misfire. Which gets worse as the noise gets louder.

What did the shop say when you took it back?

They tried to tell me that it was an Idler pulley. So I took the belt off and it still made that noise, so I took it back. Then they tried to tell me that it was "slight" lifter noise. So I said b/s. The last thing they tried to tell me is that it was the flywheel or tourque converter. I was tired of hearing b/s so I asked them to fix it. Then they acted like they couldnt hear it. The last thing they said was drive until it blows up..... I am so pissed off with them. So, if it doesnt blow up by tomorrow, I am going to have Mak Haik listen to it and bring them the diagnosis.

At the time, I wasn't aware that it was hurt. I just knew that it flashed at you. The more I hear it, the more it sounds like a rocker arm or something.

Take the valve covers off, if its in the valvetrain you might get lucky and be able to see it.

You might as well tell them that you will sue if they dont fix it. If they still refuse then have another mechanic fix it and then take them to small claim and sue them for the cost

Well they are tearing it down as we speak. It got loud enough that you'd have to be deaf not to hear it.
