If the fuel pump is not producing enough pressure or the regulator not functioning properly will it cause the PCM to not let the coils fire?

Re: No start problem
I've that you can have the PCM "de-programmed" to remove certain things like the VATS security system, O2 sensors , etc. how do you do it? I think I have a VATS problem or either a loose connection somewhere. Its a 3800 with a 5 speed and in will intermittently not start (no fire) then without notice it will start. this happens at no particular time and done it when the engine is hot and when cold. I've checked that the ICM is getting power, grounded, checked power to crank sensor, checked both pulses from the crank sensor, had the ICM checked on 2 separate occasions and ALL tests good. There has even been a few times that it wouldn't start and when I attach the spark checker it then cranks right up, there has been a few times that it won't start and I touch the wires going to the crank sensor and it will start but these circumstances are not always true.I've tried bypassing the key with resistors no change. I might go out there right now & it may crank but may not. There are no consistent pattern. I'm confused. One time the securty light was on and it wouldn't even crank over but after a few minuted it did, thats why I wonder if its in the security system.

Re: No start problem
Its pretty simple from what I've read. Only happened once to me, and of course it was December at about 2am. But if I remember correctly all you need to do it put a resistor on one if the wires going to the ignition? Something like that. Search it up, there's plenty of written cases of this happening. If nothing comes up on the site, Google is your friend.

What exactly is it that goes bad with the ignition switch? I got my column down and looked up in there to the switch but thats about it, started getting dark and colder! Oh and still isn't starting but will crank over.
