It's an issue with that drive by wire system. Some people have it, others don't.

You know that was my thought as well. I have no clue what it is. They are supposed to have it done tomorrow or they are supposed to tell me what else I need. They think it may need a throttle body as well. The local Chevorlet dealer has the list price at $822. Now I am used to paying a lot for parts because of my BMW's but that is a little much for an American car. Hell my 2008 Tahoe's throttle body was replaced under warranty, and only cost $625, but I guess if I need it I gotta get it. No one else has one and its dumb to pay $500 for one out of the junk yard. We will just see what happens. Are these issues normal on the 3800?

500 for a tb thats carzy!!! down here they go for 40 at the most out of a salvage yard. and if it is the tb its just cause of years of use a part has to eventually go out its not going to last for ever.

Yeah dude I said the same thing. Yeah I guess they go out eventually. If I have to get one, Does anyone know of an aftermarket one that flows more? If the stock one is going to set me back $820, I might as well try and find an upgrade.... I'm not even sure what goes out on them.

Theres not a aftermarket TB, just go to the scrap yard and pull one.

You'll have to check compatibility as this is designed for a grand prix.

Are you familiar with the difference between the FWD and RWD throttle bodies? I thought the FWD one was the same it just faced sideways as opposed to forwards. Hell I don't know but I am just wanting to make sure.

Do yourself a favor and check the "cheap places" like ebay and craigslist before you waste money at a dealership. I'll bet if you check GM Parts Direct a throttle body will be quite a bit cheaper than what the dealer tells you as well.

Or even check the classifieds on the forum that you're using. This guy's got 2 of them for sale for $75. And he's an excellent seller too

Buy it and find out, theres a reason they don't list them for RWD vehicles.

Your probably right. I was just curious as to what the differences were.

Okay so the car has a new throttle body and Accelerator pedal and seems to be okay now. I am surprised that they were both faulty. Has anyone else encountered this costly repair? Is it maintenance?
