Re: What do you guys think about my 1/4 Mile time?
Yea, my step sister thought that for the longest time. She would not believe it no matter how many times I told her. I have heard that a lot at the track as well though.
The Accels are probably better than the old MSD's though
And yes, 275's at that level are gonna slow the acceleration down a bit.
Before I changed my tires 2 months ago, my car would spin them at will from a take off. It would not hook from a launch. It would spin them to about 5K then shortly afterwards hook up and go. I cant imagine what it'd do if it had the stock 16's on there
Re: What do you guys think about my 1/4 Mile time?
Only thing I ask of you guys is what the best way to launch this car. Brake lauch it @ 2K? Hit it from an Idle? I am not really sure with this car. I'm sure the track will be prepped which will negate the tire spin I see on the street but I want to see what you guys have seen the most effective launch to be.

you had crappy tires...I had 245/50R16 Hankook HRII tires on my car for the longest time and you had a hard time breaking them loose.
There is nothing wrong with 275's, they look great, but if you want performance you want the skinniest tire you can hook up with. Food for thought, stock class cars that run 10's do so on a 9" tire, which is basically a 225 wide tire. Granted, it is a slick we're talking about, but you get my point.
Wide tires add both rolling resistance and weight...weight when you are talking about rotating mass is huge...I think it's somewhere around the equivalent of 1lb rotational mass = 7-10lbs static mass
In any event, you'll probably still spin somewhat at the track because street tires hate the glue they put down.

Understood. I thought I was doing a good thing when I changed the wheels from the crap steel wheels the previous owner had (they were 17's too) to the forged units I installed. Not sure how much weight I saved but it was substantial enough to feel the gains when you drive it afterwards. The 275's were a bit heavier, as I felt them before the install, but they do look good. I Hope I get good results, but your right about that though. The more rotating mass the harder it is for the wheel to turn.

Like I said, they're not a bad thing, a fat tire looks awesome on the car...I have them on my car for the street. But when it comes to performance and if you are going to go to the strip more...you should look into picking up a set of 15's for the track and like I said, go with the skinniest, lightest tire you can hook up with.
My current ET streets are 10.5" wide, I bought them because I got them for a steal of a price on prostar rims. They're too much tire for the car, I run them at 30psi at the track and hookup lol... They'll be replaced this year due to the sidewall cracking, I'll probably be asking around to see just how skinny I can actually go back there

When I had my back seats out on those bad tires, I would actually get axle hop on certain take offs. I couldnt tell you the exact conditions that it would do it but It would do it on the black top highway near my house. I thought Solid axle cars dont do this? Is that just worn shocks? My buddy's GTO has the same issue but he has a 450 RWHP LS2. Almost expected. It hasnt done it recently but I wasnt sure what caused it.
Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
Hello, so I changed the front bearings on the bird and the ABS inoperative light came on. I made a mistake of not removing negative battery cable. Now...
I usually have to double, triple my headlight switch for them to come up on my 97 Firebird. I cleaned all connections. Could it be the headlight switch...
