  • Starter just sounds like blender with no crank

So here I am going to the auto parts store to buy more seafoam for the Camaro, and when I go to crank it, the car sounds really weird. Well I stop at a stop sign and it dies.... Never did that before. So I was like okay, and went to start it back up, and it doesnt turn the engine at all whatsoever, it just sounds like a bad blender underneath the car. No clue what happened or whats wrong or how to fix it. Seems like one thing after another with this car, but its apparent the last owner wasn't very cautious.

The car isnt here. It sounds like the gear was separated from the drive motor of the starter. It like grinds and makes noise but doesnt turn the engine.

well if it sounds like that then it could be just loose its only held on by 2 long bolts anyways. or it just stripped but that seem hardly impossible to me. the only way that could happen is if the starter was not contacting the flywheel right and just stripped cause of it

I just hope its the starter and not the flywheel. Im not feeling like pulling the tranny out.

pretty easy...check the connection on it...I had that problem before and I remember it having to do with the wiring down on the starter, but I can't remember what exactly it was

That sounds like a solenoid problem. Simple fix is to replace just that.

Strange that it died though and the problem with the starter happened right after it died

its not that bad man , just jack it up and get started on it, i mean when i did it i had no help, my tech teacher said your on your own your depending on me too much , so i did it on my own when i was done he said i should of been 15 min faster but since its my first time doing it it was preaty good time . and then i put the car down went to crank it and it started up faster that it did before , i havent had a problem with my starting system since then

Well Guys I got a new starter today $600 Later + the 6 mile tow. The other starter apparently disintegrated and feel apart.... Weird but he said he has an LT1 in the shop that did the same thing, but Idk. Really random. Any ideas on how that happens?
