Re: Finally New motor
For that kind of money, you could have bought a used, low-mile 3800III and did a head/cam swap, full exhaust and suspensions and still have money left over...aka FreedStyle

Re: Finally New motor
You ignore the body condition and the interior condition and the fact that the youngest
Camaro of our body type is now ten years old. If a person only drove 10K miles for ten years it would have 100,000 miles on it. Few people drive that little.
At least he knows what he is getting instead of a junk yard engine that is like buy a lotto ticket. I did that and it was a big, big mistake that I am unable to reverse.Phil

I have 62K on my 1997. There is plenty of low mile cars out there if you shop.
OP: That is a lot of coin given the value of our cars. Does your car have some sentimental value to you? If not, $4k seems like an awful lot for a V6 engine swap. 3800III are readily available and cheap, might want to consider that route and spend that money else where on your car. Re: Finally New motor
Whatever I say, if you get an engine frm a wreck...its a damn gamble...you cannot run it before you buy it...you spend money to put it in and once its in...you own it.
Junk yards offer just what the name implies. I think he paid a lot for the engine, but its his money and he knows just what he bought..no guessing, no fingers crossed.Phil

Do you want an engine that has not been run in five years or more. A Camaro built in 2000 is thirteen years old.
Even if the motor has been sitting or is higher mileage... rebuild it... inspect it... do your homework. Don't just pay some random mechanic to install it, like you did.In America's Hat!
