  • Time for a New Radiator

Who has replaced their radiator with a performance aftermarket one?

What brand? Would you buy again?

I do have one in mind - but looking for additional opinions/experiences.

I just used the V8 Rad part # CU1485 from Spectra.

You just answered ssms5411. But the CU1485 is for the V6, and CU1486 is for the V8's.

                Sure you don't actually have a CU1485?

Re: Time for a New Radiator

This thing was way thicker than the stock rad it was as thick as my LT1's rad.

When I did the rad in my LS1 I used the same rad as the aftermarket LS1 part # was wimpy.

It also had the low coolant sensor port which I blocked.

Got the CU1485 Spectra Premium with new Goodyear hoses installed Monday. It has a 25% thicker core that my stock 96 core had.

Actually appears to be running cooler temps.

Mine barely got over 1/2 on the gauge on the hottest day in a traffic jam with the air on.

Before the new rad it was climbing all the way to the red zone.

                            Its a great upgrade:)
