  • 500 hp dd???

so i was thinking about what my goal is for my camaro, and what i would like to do is make 500 hp and be able to dd it.But i got a few questions.

    supercharge or turbo

would a l26 long block be good for dd 500 whp

stick with my 10 bolt or upgrade(for trans i going to do the t56 swap)

and would i still be able to pass all the nc car inspection stuff when they hook up to your computer and use your obd system

          - Turbo
          - 8.8/9/12 bolt rear end
          - A4

and depends how you modify the car. You can tune readiness sensors to be in a constant ready state like this http://highperformancejunkies.com/tu...sensor-tuning/

You may only need to worry about visual inspection, but depends on what you do to the car. You don't need to bypass any emissions stuff really.

A 500 HP daily driver will not come from a V6.

head/cam/intake on an LSx will get you 500hp at the wheels.. To do that kind of power with a v6, I would think it wouldn't be very street friendly, not to mention you'd be getting real close to a breaking point with a lot of parts. A rear end and transmission is a must at that point.

To do an LSx swap, or just buy an LS car, would be the cheapest, easiest way to go. H/C/I swap on an LSx and you can have 500hp and reliability...

rear end and tranny is a weak point even if you are LSx. The A4 is virtually the same thing we have just with bigger input/output shafts...that doesn't make the tranny stronger. 10 bolt is the same crap we have just you get a posi that you can chew up and spit out instead of an open diff. I killed 2 of them cam only with a stall and slicks.

tranny and rear end is money you are going to have to spend regardless. After that point you can either spend the money to motor swap and then go heads/cam/intake, or spend the money on a quality turbo kit and go head/cam with the v6. At the end of the day, you'll probably spend the same amount of money give or take a few bucks

I corrected that..."LSx", My buddy has an LQ9 H/C/I that layed down 470. I don't know the specs on his setup tho. All I know is LQ9 block/rotating assembly, and worked over LS3 heads and intake.

500 on a good turboed V6 is possible. There are a ton of 86-87 Buick GN's that do it. If you have ever looked at the engine structure of a series II it is way better than a old 109 block GN motor. A stock NA 3800 makes ~200. A cam and heads would get you to ~240. Thats like 20PSI to 500.

You are going to need a good sized cam, valvesprings, ported heads, ect. 500 out of a 3800 is like 800ish out of an LS1 so its going to have to be a decently thought out build but its more than possible. GN's need a girdle on the mains around the 10 second mark. You wont need that with a S2 3800.

Just cant be a wimp and run around on 11 PSI like it seems most turbo people do. As long as you run a decent intercooler, 93 and alky or E85 you should be able to get 25ish PSI.

LS is an easy 500, but getting everything for the LS swap isnt. With all the LS swaps going on now used F body oil pans, intakes, accessory drives, and harnesses are like gold. Around here you can get a 12 sec Z28 for 6-7 grand. Its going to cost no less than 3 to do a proper, good looking LS swap. If you cheap out, 2, but you cant run a truck intake or accessories in an F body.
