        Re: What the Heck!?!?!

Coil packs probably got wet if it was a heavy enough rain. When was the last time you did plugs/wires?

The stock intake/heads on the V6 don't really do well with the higher rpms. Power drops quickly after the 5000rpm range. A good cam will push that powerband up some, but you need to open up that top end with a good heads/intake and cam package.

You can actually see decreased efficiency with our intake side of the heads at high lift/rpm on stock ports.

The car is on its 3rd set of accel coils. I just changed the wires on wednesday with MSD super conductors, and I put Diamond fire E3's spark plugs in it when I did the headers 3 weeks ago.

Yeah I know if I had an LSx I could use a FAST intake Manifold but I cant find any aftermarket manifolds for the 3800. I only did a K&N cold air because thats all I thought I could do.

This water was on the passenger side as well not where the coils were but they could have gotten wet, I am not sure. Are our cars supposed to have an under belly pan to protect from water and other crap? all of my other cars do and I wondered about that. Even my old 1995 540i had an under belly pan to protect it from that.

Nope, no splash tray/belly pan on the F-body.

Make sure you don't have a scorched wire. Sometimes happens after doing headers. I went through a few sets until I got the routing just perfect and added DEI boots lol!

I put some Kevlar boot protectors on the wires so they dont get scorched. I had to change them for that reason. I need to like fab a belly pan for it. that was dumb negligence by GM.

I melted a few wires, even with kevlar boots, after doing OBX headers on my car. I went through 2 sets of oem replacements plus the MSD wires that came with the car before I finally bought the stuff to do custom wires. With the straight boots, there was always contact, and even with kevlar boots they were getting too hot. I ran 90* boots and rerouted my wires to get them off the headers. Also, ditch the E3 plugs and get some NGK TR55's. Those "Diamond fire" plugs block the spark by design.

So 90 degree boots? and that'll piss me off if it still burns them, those kevlar boots were $10 each!! like I payed almost as much for those as MSD's wires! the two cylinders that are the issues are the rear passenger side one and the middle driver side one. I've heard good things about the E3's from the LSX guys. why are they no good for the 3800?

                      Re: What the Heck!?!?!

Just look at the tip of an E3 plug vs. a conventional style spark plug. It's obvious that the spark faces more obstruction due to the "diamond fire" design. Compare it to a true racing spark plug and which one looks more efficient? The E3 plugs are just a unique design with a lot of marketing to get customers to buy them.

Well guys I have done some investigation, and I think I have at least one bad injector. Cylinder 6 is acting up so I think that injector is bad. I may have all bad ones but that one is worst. That sketchy engine shop that did the first motor said they changed them all but they were sketchy so I dont know. They said they did it as of 8 months ago so who knows.

Find a long screwdriver and hold the driver tip on each injector with the handle end pressed to your ear while the engine is running. Do this one injector at a time and listen for a rapid clicking/tapping sound. If you hear it, you know the injector is firing. If there's nothing, then that injector is either stuck open or not firing at all.

I'll try it. I hear them on the driver side without the screw driver. But cylinder 6 is the rear cylinder on the passenger side. right?

6 would be in the rear. Starting on the drivers side it goes 1,3,5 then passenger 2,4,6 I think it is without looking. I would double check or have another person chime in and confirm it.
