I just pulled out the E3 Diamond fire plugs and replaced with the OEM AC-delco's. Cylinder #4's E3 looked like it wasnt burning all the fuel, but the OEM plugs are in there now. The car runs okay but the idle is shakey and it makes noise around that area. I have been through a lot of ignition parts (coils, wires, plugs) but have never messed with the ICM. I am stuck. I just want it to shut up lol its making too much noise.

My car ran like crap when my maf sensor failed but it did throw a p102 code. Tried some 8 dollar maf cleaner to no avail.. Put one in from junk yard car runs great. Prior to fix it sure felt like coils were cutting out.

Have you tried a compression test? I think I might hit that no.4 cyl. and see where it's at.

I have. I got 150 PSI on the cylinders. I've only gotten codes on 6 & 5 since i bought the car.

Since you did the headers, what gasket did you use? If you used the paper gasket from Pacesetter its probably a exhaust leak.

I used the Felpro's with the copper spray. The exhaust shop that did the welding said there were no leaks, and the dealer said they sounded good with no leaks. It did this with the manifolds.

Felpros with copper spray is about the best way to do it so its not the headers then. What kinds noise is it making? Like a ticking noise? You might be hearing the injectors firing. If not does it sound like its internal? Does it increase with rpms or stay the same?

Its wayy too loud for injector noise, you can hear it while driving.

I found the Issue. I have been assuming that the boots on my MSD super conductors have been okay because I purchased Kevlar boot protectors and put them on each wire. Well turns out, they are not okay. 4 of the 6 had developed some kind of crack or warpage THROUGH and DESPITE the Kevlar Protectors (that were $10 Each by the way). So I am stuck. I have no clue how to fix it since it had the protectors on it this whole time.

I have 8.5mm MSD superconductors with straight boots. Any advice or knowledge guys?! I am stuck. NO clue what wires and boot protector combo to use.

                    Re: Ignition Noises

I had the same issue when I swapped to headers. I also had kevlar boots being burned through, although mine didn't make the kind of noise you described, mine just gave me bad misfires on hard acceleration. I ended up doing custom cut 8.5mm msd wires with 90* boots run under the headers. I no longer need the kevlar protectors and haven't had any issues for the 2 years since.

I run ZZP 10.5 wires straight boot with high heat boot protectors and they will get whitish but the ends of the boots stay fine. I'm also running Pacesetters.

I should add that mine were with OBX headers first, and now with FFF Longtubes. Same wire setup with both, custom cut and ran under the pipes with 90* boots and no protectors.

I'm running FFF Longtubes and custom cut MSD Heli-Core cut to fit wires. I've got some 90° boots and some straight boots that can be angled a little bit (kinda like a bendy straw). I'm running DEI boot protectors. They've been on there for probably 3 years now without issue. I went through 3 sets of wires before I got these and routed them under the passenger side manifold and ran straight on the driver's side.

Okay, so go underneath on the passenger side and I'm not sure on the driver side? The pacesetters do weird things. I am going to reuse my boot protectors anyways. I ordered these...

I have two MSD superconductors left without damaged boots. This is sooo annoying lol. I am just uncomfortable making my own wires so I hope I can make something work with what I got coming and what I got now. I wish I knew about the long tubes before I bought the Pacesetters. I am not dissatisfied, but I do wish they were longtubes.

Looks like your driver side is touching the header..... would you use 90 degrees on the driver side too?

Like I've said, 3 years, no issues. Granted stainless steel has better thermal properties than mild steel.

90° ends on them all would be helpful for your case.
