  • L32 long block

So if I put a l32 long block I would have to switch over intake, accessories, oil filter adapter, fly wheel, oil pan and pick up right?

IMO, no motor thats been ran hot, is a good deal, without being bored, honed, and a new set of pistons and rings. But it could be good, Just wouldnt put in my car without those things being done.

I wouldn't pay $300 for a motor thats probably shot, if it heated up too much the heads are going to be cracked or warped, I wouldn't take the chance. Why are you going with a L32 and not a L26 if you plan on swapping motors.

I have been looking for an l26 this l32 just came up but I agree with you on it could be shot so I will not get it. But I thought the l32 was a drop in long block to or am I wrong?

L32 is the supercharged motor, so it has less compression 8.5:1, the L26 is the N/A motor so its 9.4:1. So I would look for a L26 which should be less than the L32 since your not going to use the supercharger. I would get a engine that has a warranty on it. The L26 with lower miles should be about $400-$600. There in a number of vehicles up to 2009. Pontiac grand Prix's, Buick Lunceres, and others. I think they started in 2004( would have to look it up). If you get one I would check the heads and then the pistons, and the bearings. I know here in AZ I can get a low mileage L26 for around $400.

Since you have a 98 , the injectors are different, you'll have to use your old injectors.

Yeah you should , you might have to a Case Relearn though.

Anytime you change or replace the balancer a Case Relearn should be done to let the crank sensor relearn the balancer. If not you could have misfire problem. Theres a sticky on it in General Tech from FirebirdGT, I would read it.
