When I started my 3.8 camaro the other day it made a ticking noise. The service engine light did not come on. (My camaro sat for a few months this winter, I started it about once a week during those few months.) After the ticking started, I drove it and the ticking eventually stopped after a couple miles.

A couple days later I started it again and another ticking sound happened quieter this time and it stopped much sooner than the first time. It took about 2 mins after I started it for the ticking to stop
    .
It drives perfect but I'm concerned about the ticking.

My 3800 ticked from the day I got it.

It is probably a lifter not pumping up all the way.

      Thanks for the reply
the lifter not pumping up all the way, would that be a problem? or do you think it's just from sitting for a while?
My car has 95k on it

Car doesn't usually sit in in the winter

I'm going to assume.. so I may be wrong on this completely, but I'll assume anyway, the ticking sound you hear to that part or parts in your engine that perhaps it is not getting lubricated properly when you do a cold start.

Does your engine have high mileage? Maybe you should think about switching to a thicker oil. It might help.

Mine had less than 60,000 miles when it started.

I sold it with over 120,000 miles and its still running strong.

Yes it can happen from sitting, but usually goes away once the car gets warmed up.

              Don't use thicker oil,use a quality synthetic.

Thicker oil will cause premature bearing wear.

Yes, that's true too. Since your car is not that high in miles try synthetic.
