• P1153, P0300, P1406, Just replaced 02 sensor... Whats going ON?!

Okay, I replaced my passenger side O2 sensor with a new BOSCH sensor from Autozone after getting the P1153 code. It IS the sensor on the passenger side right before the cat right? Well... replaced it and the SES is still on, car still runs like crap even after driving it for 55 Miles. I ran to Autozone and they gave me the imfamouse P1153 code, along with P0300, and P1406 which came up TWICE.

Whats going on and whats it going to take to fix it?

your egr valve is probably stuck open, does it idle like crap but run ok off idle?

Sometimes it idles alittle shaky like it wants to die but it's kind of rare. As far as running, getting up to 45 is fine, but after half gas it's over. It feels like after half gas there's nothing left and it just keeps accellerating like normal. What can I do and if I have to replace an EGR valve which means MORE $$$ how much is it going to cost and where is the sucker located?

The P0300 is the random misfire code. Could be a loose spark plug wire or a bad spark plug. Check the wires and if they lok good, pull your plugs. A bad O2 sensor might have caused you to smole a plug.

If you are still showing the P1153 it might not have been the sensor, it could have been a wiring problem.

I am not sure about were the EGR is on the 1997. On the 2001 it is just to the right (while standing in front of the car facing the car) of the throttle body. There is a steel tube that runs from the exauhst to the EGR. Find that tube and you have found the EGR.

Good luck.

IF the egr valve is sticking open it could cause a misfire. you could loosen the egr and slide a business card under it and tighten it back down and see how the car runs then, if your problem is solved then you have an egr that is hung open and causing all of the other codes...don't leave the card in there...

Okay, I didn't know that was my EGR Valve, I've seen that part a thousand times. Well after I take it off, how will I know if it's stuck open or not?
Crap, better question is, How DO I take it off? there's such a short squeeze between it and the powersteering fluid container for even a small flathead screwdriver!

Okay, I took it off, It looked all clean from everything I could see unless there's more in there that I cannot see. I sprayed it with Gumout anyway...I even sprayed the intake Pipe, no effect... The code says my EGR Valve is malfunctioning... I'm going to replace my Fuel Filter. Then I'm ganna see how much I can get an EGR Valve at a Junkyard... or should I just get it new?...

A stuck open egr will deffetnially cause a bad idle/misfire. At idle the egr would normally be closed, but at crusing it should be open therefore it shouldnt misfire then. It also should be closed at WOT, so you could notice a difference there also.

I don't think I would buy a used EGR Valve, I would buy a new one if I were you.

Okay, it looked closed to me when I took it out, I stuck a screwdriver down the hole and hit a solid metal before entering the canister... could it still be bad?

Aw crap, I heard our cars have TWO EGR Valves, the one on the passenger manifold is probably the one thats smudged up. How much is this going to cost to have replaced? I get payed on the 24th so I want to have a clue... anything I need to look into replacing while I'm at it? I'ma have a mechanic do the job, I hate being under 3,000LB F-Body's . I had the O2 Sensor replaced already. Can a bad EGR fry an O2 Sensor?
