which is the best engine? please help!!

My brother wants to buy a 4th gen camaro and we want to find the most reliable one we can. In yalls honest opinions which litre engine is the best or is the v8 the better one. Just dont want something to constantly fix. And by the way he is in southern Illinois and is trying to trade his 94 4x4 lifted ranger extended cab for it so if anyone is close and wants to do some trading......thanks in advance :burn:

They are all good reliable engine. If you're looking at LT1's the only draw back would be the opti-spark.

I think he found one. A 96 but the fuel pump is out. How hard is that to fix?

It took me about an hour the last time I replaced the fuel pump on my 96. Here's a link to the trap door method which allows you to do it without removing the fuel tank.

He bought it. We trailered it home last night. Got 7 volts coming out of the relay. Is that normal? Means the fuel pump is faulty right?

I could but the wiring harness used from the factory was barely adequate.

Thats why several companies make harnesses to boost the voltage to the pump.

Ok, weird. We have a drain on the battery somewhere. Getting 13 volts at battery and 10 volts at the wire from the fuel pump relay. Tried to test the draw at the battery and my multimeter wouldnt pick it up so I hooked up a test light between the battery terminal and the post. The light pulsed from the theft light on the dash and we started pulling fuses. The only real change was the pwr accy fuse, it dimmed a lot and stopped pulsing. Anyone know what that means?

There should be but as I said the factory wiring was barely adequate.

Thats why the aftermarket boost a pump kits bump up the voltage to the pump.
