  • Problem with my 3rd Gen Temp. Gauge

So for awhile I couldn't figure out why the temp. gauge doesn't work. I replaced the ECT and still nothing. Then I found a wire that wasn't grounded. The plastic holder thing just cracked probably from old age and engine heat.

So I fabbed up something in order for me to ground it. Once I grounded it now the Temp gauge work, but the needle goes to the opposite side (the hot side and it stays there).

I can't figure out what to do next. Maybe you guys can throw some suggestions.

    Thanks

Ok, I figured it out. I just didn't ground it properly. It wasn't getting the proper resistance. Now I just have to fab up something in place of that plastic that broke.

I'm glad you figured it out I was going to suggest that the sensor fried from not having it grounded.

Yeah I was thinking about that too. I almost bought a whole sending unit. I sure am glad I didn't.
