  • Fan wire cut! Where does it go?

So I discovered that one wire (black) on the right (passenger) fan is cut.
Discovered this after overheating on mountainous roads during a short vacation.

From what I can tell on the schematics, it is a ground. Before even seeing this I had assumed it was positive; crudely spliced and put on a positive contact and it worked. How could that be if it is a ground? Also, why would it have been cut in the first place?

Can someone point me in the right direction here?

I would just use a volt meter to double check which one is positive and neg.
