so heres two batteries im looking at...i'd like the 535 because it only weighs 12lbs ...the 680 weighs 15 ...the question is...which one will provide the power i need??...i have no idea if these numbers match up to what i need factory???
PC 535 (13Ah)
HCA - 535A
CCA - 200A
CA@32*F - 265A
HCA@80*F - 300A
Reserve Capacity - 21 min.
PC 680 (16Ah)
HCA - 625A
CCA - 265A
CA@32*F - 350A
HCA@80*F - 440A
Reserve Capacity - 27 min.
The two numbers usually quoted are the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and the RC (Reserve Capacity in minutes). Stock F-bodies have CCAs about 600-800 and RCs about 80-100. I don't know the Ah (Ampere-hours) spec, but I'd guess about 50-60.
So both these are substantially less. People use the 680 at the track so I know it will start the car OK in warm weather at the track, but you'll definitely want a full size battery in the winter, and maybe on the street in general. At the track, you may want to have a way of charging the small battery so you can start your car several times. Track guys use them, so you really need to find someone with experience to know how many times a fully charged 680 will start your car.
But I think most people who do this use the 680 because the 535 is really too small.
hmm..i know James has one..thats how i heard of it..im not sure how much he uses it..i'll see if i can grab his attention...thanks!
