• what performance gain can i get out of my 3.8?

I've been back and forth whether to upgrade the v6 or put in a v8. which would be more effective and easier to do? i have a 97 firebird

well... consider this drop a 8 you have to call insurance about it. then pay insurance for a 8 . all the money invested to swap an 8 it just about the same to get a z. Now... that being said you don't mention to the insurance about the swap, and a bad accident happens insurance covers you for a V6 motor.

look modify the six like a hp to an 8 and pay insurance for a six

I agree with him. Mod the six and make the 8's turn heads! Are you from Plano?

depends on how much $ u want to put into it....
with enough money and rescources, HP can be almost limitless in any engine.
im a strong believer in moding our v6.
think about it, a V8 swap is going to cost a MINIMUM of $3500. then you only have a stock LT1 or LS1.
for $3500, you could buy a FFF turbo kit and get anywhere from 350+hp on a stock motor also u would have enough money left over for some ignition, fuel, or suspension goodies.

well besides putting a turbo in, which mods would give me decent power along with that v8 sound?

big cam, heads, intake, basically just going naturally aspirated.
but if u ask me nothing sounds better than an open downpipe and then hearing the blow off valve
