I had that happen when my car developed a water leak in the firewall. Water would leak onto the front passenger side carpet. At the same time, the lower tone horn would stop working (leaving only the higher pitched horn working).

The horn would resume working after a few days of drying out.

The eventual fix was a warranty repair of the leak.

My horn stopped working over the weekend, but I was lucky it was just a blown fuse...easy fix :D

If it sounds like it's blowing into a tin can, it's the horn itself. I've had my horn(s) replaced twice already. Once was because water got in it when I had to drive through 3' of water after a hard rain. Take it to the dealer to have it replaced. Guarrantee it will be an order item. They never seem to keep those in stock. It has a dual tone horn and when one goes out and it's only single tone, it sounds like crap. I know how you feel. It's not your alternator going out like someone said, so don't worry about that. If it was your alternator, you'd have NUMEROUS other problems (most likely NOT concerning your horn)

I don't like the sound of the horn when it works properly. It sounds so wussy, you're better off just revving your engine.
