    Check Engine Light

    I purchased a OBD-1 tool and i plugged it in and according to the manual the car should automaticlly throw a code 12 which meansd everything is ok.

    But it wont even do that, the light wont blink. The light will come on when i pu the key forware (but dont try to start it)

    Even when the check engine light comes on, i plug in the ODB-1 connector and it just stays lit.

    Am i doing something wrong?

      say screw it and take it up to Advanced or Auto Zone and let them read it for you...

              when exactly does the SES light come on? Can you be more specific? Like immediately once the car starts after a steady idle in park or neutral, after driving certain speeds?

                I have heard of some people having issues reading a 94's PCM.. no one has given me a good reason why yet tho

                  Its not the SES light, its the Check Engine light, and it turns on when ever i drive it semi hard or sometimes when ever i cruise at above 65+

                    check engine, service engine soon etc is all the same idea. the only time it;s different is in newer cars. they have one light for emissions codes and another light for non emissions codes.


                    based on what your saying it sounds like an EGR fault or possibly an 02 code

                      This is for the people with the 3.4s or are familiar with the 3.4s but on my white 94 there is a small tube that goes from the intake elbow to the passenger side valve cover.

                      Well on my black 94 (this is the one throwing the light) it does not have this tube. Is this possibly the cause of my trouble?
