Which is easier when swapping heads? Pull the heads out with the headers still bolted up or unbolt the headers and then pull the heads? I'm thinking that pulling the heads with the headers still on them would be easier and quicker than trying to unbolt the headers with the heads still in the car. Has anyone done this before??
    Thanks for the advice!

you will never be able to get to the bottom four head bolts with the headers still attached. you have to take them off.

Yep, what Timmy said. It can be done, but it will not be easy! Unbolt the headers (only takes a few minutes), and then pull the heads.

Definitely will have to unbolt the headers first. If anything, the added weight of the headers will make it even more of a pain to get the heads out.

ok then i need to know how the heck to get the lower bolts out from the headers. There is no clearance between the head and the primary to fit anything.

Small wrench? What size is the bolt head. WHen you put them back in, you should really consider getting the bolts that the LS1s use to hold the exhaust manifolds on. They have a 10mm head and make installation/removal MUCH easier.

Oh, by the way, when you put the head studs in, you will have to bolt the headers onto the heads AFTER the heads are on. The way that you slide them onto the studs would make it impossible to leave them attached to the heads.
