  • Update on oil pressure

As I'm sure most of you have read, I've been having a problem w/ my oil pressure being alil on the high side. So I broke down and got a new regulator valve (bypass valve) and spring. Installed it today thinking (after talking to you guys and my mechanic) that it would fix my problem and my pressure would be around 60psi again. After much work I turned the key and the pressure, although not 90 or alil above anymore, is at about 80-85. I really don't know what's going on. The guy at Pepboys said it could be a clogged something or other (can't remember exactly what he said, something to do w/ the heads keeping the oil in the crankcase) or a blown head gasket. I doubt it's a head gasket problem b/c I don't have any other tale tell signs of that. So I'm stumped. I think in about a week or so I'll go a good oil system flush and hopefully clean out any junks that's all up in my engine. So... I'm just stumped and alil pissed... so any suggestions as to what to do now would be greatly apprieciated.

I'd still try hooking up a known, good mechanical gauge, just to make sure it isn't something electrical. That's the first thing you do when you have oil pressure problems before you go replacing stuff.

If the oil pick up tube were clogged, wouldn't it lead to a low oil pressure?
