  • PCM Removal?

What all is involved when removing the PCM and the engine wiring harness??? I have my engine/tranny out of the car and I want to remove the PCM and harness out of the way to make it easier to clean things up, wiring other things easier, and make life simpler. Thanks

        dunno about the harness
but not too long ago i was pullin the pcm on my cuz's stang and it ended up with me upside down in the passenger seat....its wedged in there pretty good but not that hard to figure out
yes the harness plugs into the pcm
there are a few connections that have to be disconnected before u can take the pcm out

I'm pretty sure the pcm is that grey box under the hood, against the firewall on the passenger side

To remove the PCM, remove the two screws holding the two plugs into the PCM. One is clear plastic and one is blue. As you unscrew the little bolts, the plugs will come out. Once the bolts are loose, gently pull on the plugs and they will come off. Move them to the side. The PCM is held in its bracket by two clips, one on each side. Hold those clips out and pull the PCM out. I find it easier if i remove the two bolts holding the bracket so I can move the bracket around to get more clearance. When re-installing, make sure the bracket is in the little slot in the fender and do not over tighten the screws thst hold the plugs in the PCM.

You are on your own for the rest of the harness. It should be just a matter of finding all the little clips and plugs. Good luck.

this was a piece of cake....except no one told me that were connections INSIDE the car i had to undo before i could remove the harness.
