  • Anyone recommend a good sun sheild?

    I don't know if "sun sheild" is the correct term or not, but those reflective things that go on your dash. I'm leaving for college in a week and definately want to get one of those to preserve my dash since it will be an outdoor car.

    ...Or perhaps an online store that sells a good assortment of them with cool designs and whatnot.

    I got an oversize (truck) one, laid it on the outside of the windshield, then trimmed it with a pair of scissors to get an exact fit.

    I think it works nicely - since it almost seals around the windshield, it kind of insulates the interior from the hot windshield glass better.

        if you got the money my dad taught me a cool trick, get a smaller one and lay it in your hatch area over the carpet.

        You will get some glare sometimes but it helps ALOT with the heat.

        Just some advice from someone in sunny FL.

          Coverking makes one. Here is the description:
          Coverking Custom Sun Shields are custom cut to fit your vehicle perfectly! Unlike universal fit sunshields which are available in many auto parts stores, Coverking's product is designed to fit your vehicle perfectly. Coverking uses a high quality, triple laminated material and the latest CAD / CAM systems to ensure the highest quality product throughout design and production. All Sun Shields have sewn-in Velcro straps to store while not in use.

          Coverking's Sunshields consist of 3 layers. The first layer is Metallized PE which reflects the sun's harmful UV rays. The second layer is a Polyethylene foam that absorbs heat. The third layer is a clear plastic film which ensures perfect lamination and shape. These 3 layers combine to give you the ultimate in protection!

          * 3 Layers of Protection!
          * Absorbs Heat!
          * Manufactured for a Perfect Fit!

          Lemme know if you are interested.

            I'm interested... I just googled and found their website. It's 33.95 for their cover...

            If you happen to know some better place to buy them or you know of some discount or something please let me know.

              I got one of those custom fitting ones too. The dealer has it. I got one for my car when I first bought it brand new. It was about 32.95 or so at the dealer. It fits perfectly around the W/S.

              The first couple of yrs, I didn't even need the visors to hold it up, it was firm. But being kept rolled up on top of the gas tank, along with heat and age, it did shrink a little and now I need the visors to hold it as it wants to curl back up a bit...lol
              I would NOT get any other sunshades, this is the best and keeps the interior so much cooler.

                I got a "Heat Shield" from

                http://store.yahoo.com/afterthoughtsauto/inthoug.html

                It fits perfect. I got it after the sun cracked my first dashboard.
                I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

                  Yes, I have the same heat shield! It's massive but it fits in my window perfectly. I wouldn't bother getting anything else because we all know how big all the glass portions of our cars are compared to your average grocery getter :-P
