  • SES light....

For some reason my car is throwing a code but It wont throw it when i put in the scan tool. It says if no codes are given then look in Service Repair Book which i have Haynes but its the older one. Its not the most recent and I cant find anything out. It says look in book for Diagnostic Circuit Check but i cant find that anywhere :(

This is going to sound stupid.. but i have seen this problem before..

Is the car turned on and running when you hooked up the scan tool..

I dont want to sound meen, but the car needs to be running when you scan... else the system cannot detect the codes.. its a silly mistake people have made in the past..
