  • Car suddently dies at red light????please help me to get it fixed.

Ok guys my car all of a suddently dies on me at a red light, but I put it back on park and then it started back again found that pretty wierd. Then three days later I send my girlfriend to buy me interior paint while I change the oil on her car.
She then call 10mins later asking me where my hazard lights are located because it died on her at a red light. Today while I was going home at 65mph It felt like a gas or power surge because I looked quickly at my gauges and my RPMs when a bit down then back to where it was. Somtimes at a red light when it turn green and I go it feels like someone has hit me from the back then I turn around, and thier is no one their. Is it somthing to do with my fuel pump(I'm guessing). Need to get it fixed before it gets worse, please help me find out what it is???

How does the car run otherwise (acceleration, etc.). My car ran like sh*t a couple yrs ago(hesitation, rough idle, bad starts, etc). Turned out to be a couple worn spark plug wires. Just had them all changed, haven't had a problem since. Could be any number of things though.

i dont think plugs will cause the car to just die.
hows your fuel filter? i would look into that before jumping into the fuel pump.
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

Well I've changed the spark plugs not to long ago to some bosch +4 and also the fuel filter so those are brand new still?? What and where is the crank sensor if that the problem.

Mines been doing the same thing
its been like it for a few weeks

mine sometimes makes the jerk while driving at first i thought the alt as it seemed to be power related (if i wasnt using a lot of electrics seemed less likely to happen)

i should be taking mine this weekend to get it scanned ill post what happens
mine had been dying while almost at stop or actualy at stop

mine also threw a ses light a while back but seemed to be when around 1/2 tank of gas then it stopped happening then the other day it came back once (first time ive seen it in months) and i read a post sugesting to give the cat a knock to see if it sounds like theres ballbearings in there and it did make a noise

im not saying ours are the same thing but theres a chance and ill post soon as i know something this weekend
just for info sake mines a 98 and as far as i know has never had any plugs or anything changed

good luck with yours hope it turns out to be something small

            best wishes
            Adam

my car would die whenever i slowed down to stop. as i approached a stoplight or exited an off-ramp, my car would die. i noticed my guages bounce ever so slightly every once in a great while. it did it about once or twice a month. the dealership replaced the crank sensor and it finally stopped.

Maybe check your connections to the battery. Maybe when you come to a stop the battery moves around a little bit and shorts out, or disconnects the ground.

How much is it to get the crank sensor replaced. The bosch was reffered to me by a freind didn't really know much about them but sounded good the way he said.
