No. They came with the 3.8L and factory body kit and 3 piece spoiler. Oh, and RS Emblems

Not all came with the factory body kit,3 piece spoiler, or rs emblems. The base 93-97 RS came with 3.4L then I think somewhere around 95 or 96 they started including the 3.8L option. The only cars that came with the 5.7L are the z28 and ss. You should be able to tell if its a 5.7L from all the codes in the glove box OR look under the hood for the 5.7L on the intake.

are you sure about that? from everything i've scene heard and read the 93-97 base camaro was called the sport coupe. from 93-95 it had the 3.4L and in 95 it had the optional 3.8. 96 is when the RS came out, as a step above the sport coupe with a body kit, 3 peice spoiler, and RS emblems. In 96 the 3.8L became standard.

Thanks guys. I have a friend who has access to some site were dealers and junkyards bid for damaged vechiles. We were looking on the site for a deal on a Z28 to switch over my 3.4L. However, the only thing reasonable right now are some RS's, and they do not disclose the engine type! Thanks again.

and it was only manufactured in '96 and '97.

                    there was no V8 option.
the RS was not a model in and of itself as past RSs were.

Thats only half true, Some came with the Y87 Package which included 3.42 gears, a performance exhaust rated for an extra 5 HP, a Z28 steering rack, and a better suspension system.

I know because my car performs COMPLETELY different from my dads 3.8 V6. It accellerates faster, has a better turning ratio (I can hook a U in normal intersections rather than divided or centerlane highways) and the exhaust tone is so much better... It's hearty...
