  • Oil Pressure

Well first of all I was really happy today because my car got out of the shop after 3 days there. I got my tranny and oil leaks fixed and power steering hoses replaced. They needed new tranny sealant, and oil and tranny gaskets changed. My car runs smoother now and it just got a new oil change at the same time, all of tihs for only $560.
Well I noticed that when my car had this oil leak problem the oil pressure seemed a little low, well right now its the same. It has new oil and supposedly the leaks are fixed, i checked under the engine and there was no sign of any leaks, I thought maybe the oil pan sealant was somethign they missed but after flooring the car a couple of times there still was no sign of oil leaking, so my question is this, what is the normal oil pressure on firebirds??
I run like on between the 1/3 mark and half mark(which is 60) of the gauge when idled, when I go the pressure jumps up to over 60, just above it, is this normal or do I have to take it back and see if they missed something??

Sounds about right. Depending upon the weight of oil and additives, if any, you are running then after warm up and at about 2,000 rpm the pressure should be somewhere between 55 and 75.

thanks, I guess this means he has fixed my car right. Today when I went to George Mason to pay my deposit I smelled some burning smell when I got out of my car, but I guess it might be some of the left over oil that he didnt' clean up, I guess I can't expect the mechanics to perfectly clean up my engine.
