I haven't used the 2nd gear start button yet for my firebird. I was just wondering how good it is. I guess you just start the car, press the button, and give it gas, right?

yea it is useless unless you are in a snowy winter and need traction. You start in 2nd and it actually makes you slower than if you start in first like normal. Just prevents you from spinning in the slippery conditions
