  • Help with Engine Codes!!

Was wondering if someone could help me with the codes I've gotten off my computer. One is P1441 "Evaporitive Emission System Flow during Non-Purge and the other one that puzzles me the most is P1870 "Transmission Mechanical Transfer Case 4x4 Switch Circuit Failure". 4x4, camaros don't even have 4x4 so why would it give that code? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks. Jason

What year is your Camaro? Where did those codes come from?

P1870 is caused by the pulse valve in the transmission. I had the same problem, and i just put a transgo shift kit in it and it fixed it, becasue the shift kit comes with a new pulse valve. You can buy the pulse valve seperatly from a tranny shop, and have them install it. The new pulse valve fixes about 99% of the P1870 codes. It fixed mine

the 1870 is a trans component slipping code. service transmission. check main line pressure. trans shop or dealer for further diagnosis. there's not enough room here for me to explain diagnosis of this code and you probably don't have the proper tools...

the evap code... check gas cap and make sure its tight. turn it til it clicks. check all evap lines from tank to canister to purge solenoid to inake manifold to make sure none are dry-rotted, cracked, etc. make sure fuel system is entirely sealed. you're losing pressure on the fuel storage system when the pcm checks to see if it is maintaining pressure. usually this is because of a loose gas cap.
