I have a few wiper problems...

    1) When I first bought the car 2 years ago, the passenger side arm had no pressure on the windshield, and would not take off any water. Got that fixed...ever since then, there is this small corner at the top that just misses on regular speed. On high speed, the wipers sweep farther and it catches that area. This is only on the passenger side wiper. I want it to cover the whole part now.

    2) On high speed, I am having a bigger problem. During extended high speed wiper operation, the wipers will work, and then just start sweeping halfway, while smacking the cowl big time! High speed smacks the cowl during normal use, but when this problem happens, it smacks REALLY HARD! I drew a crappy picture to show some people the sweeping area covered during normal high speed and bad high speed... Wiper Woes. To correct this, I need to shut off my wipers (while driving in heavy rain), then restart them. The high speed action will work just fine...and then die again. I basically have to use normal speed in downpours

You can see in the Normal pic where that corner is up top that the passenger side wiper misses in #1.

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: If pic doesn't show up, try to copy & paste

If you shut the ignition off mid way up so the arms are not fully retracted, do they have a lot of play in them? It could be a worn wiper transmission assembly. Might want to check the tightness of the bolts holding the wiper arms themselves to the transmission also, I've seen them come loose and allow the arm to slip on the splines resulting in the wrong positioning, if they're loose just remove them and make sure the wipers are in the park resting place and align them then tighten them. This is what happened to me, took me a few times to get them adjusted right, kept wanting to go past the stops onto the cowling or not going completely down to them.

I had the exact opposite problem, on highs the drivers arm sweept way to hard and over the pillar about 3 inches, really bad on the highway. And in the top corner it missed a spot about 6 inches by 5.

I was having the same problem. it was my wiper motor was moving under high speeds. After putting on new rubber mounts the wiper blades stoped banging agenst the sides. Note. make sure that the back arm isn't hitting the firewall when in motion, I had that problem.

OK, so how do I get to the wiper motors? Get the cowl off? How do I do that?

How/Where did you get that fixed? And how much did it cost? I have that same problem..but haven't got around to fixing it yet.

My records say the problem was a, "Warped wiper arm and rusted hold down spring." they fixed it by, "Replace right wiper arm" (duh )

            The wiper arm was $62.15

Now, back to my other problem....I can't get the wiper arm off! I looked in a GM service manual, and it says I need a special tool? Where can I find this special wiper arm puller thing?
