The 3.4s all came with the OBDI not OBDII. That's odd to throw an OBDI, typically to do that there is something REALLY wrong. I would take it to a shop and have it checked out.

When is it coming on? What are the symptoms?

ie. mine comes on when I am driving on the hwy and coast, I get a EGR error. When I turn the car off and restart it a few minutes later I have no SES light.

      Give us some more info.

If you want a code scanner go to www.autocheckup.com sometime he has some good prices on reconditioned units.

I have the exact same problem. Have you tried replacing the EGR? I was wondering how to get this fixed.

My EGR is fairly new, after I replaced it I was still getting the code. I had someone tell me it is actually that bent pipe from the EGR to the intake (it gets clogged with carbon, since I am "CARdiac" I tried angioplasty). I cleaned it once and I stopped getting the code for a while...a new pipe is $18, I need to pick a new one up...

Since the pipe is relatively cheap compared to the $160 EGR, you may want to try replacing that first.

first of all. thanks for all the input.
now, my obd-II is stock from the factory,
i went to the dealer and found that out, i also have a buddy that has a 95 z-28 with a obd-II
stock. aparentley they started putting them in some in 95 then went full bore in 96. (my guess??)
on my s.e.s. light i have no symptoms, runs fine,
the light comes on for no apparent reason ? ive used several of the hand held diag. comp's i get no errors at all.

If you have a 3.4L you have the OBDI computer. Now the 95's have the OBDII connector underneath the dash, but still have the OBDI computer running the car. Trust me, it's not a OBDII.

All that I know is that my 95 has OBDII, but with the 3.8, the V8's got it too, but I haven't heard of the 3.4's getting OBDII.
