I'm not the greatest in auto electonic systems, but I have worked for decades in broadcast electronics and what you are describing is a dead short, probably in an accesory...have you done some mod recently that could have fried a wire?

I have a similar problem but it doesn't seem to be as BAD as yours. I plan to get some new 2 guage wire and rewire my ground from the batt and alt to batt and batt to the distribution block on the driver side and see if that helps.

I am thinking that maybe the wiring used wasn't of the highest quality now over time the wiring has broken down and either soemthing is shorting or is just getting too much resistance.

I hope to order the connectors to build new custom wires next week after I make a little extra money this weekend. So we'll see if that changes things. I certainly hope it does because I got a feeling this is gonna be a real PITA

Use the process of elimination...

Disconnect EVERY SINGLE non-essential accessory and light by either physically disconnecting the wire from the power source or by pulling fuses.

See then if the problem persists. If the problem goes away, start connecting accessories or plugging in fuses one at a time until the problem arises again.

Here's a quick list of fuses from your owners manual to pull:
From the Main Fuse Block:
-STOP/HAZARD
-TURN B-U
-RADIO ACCY
-TAIL, LTS
-HVAC
-PWR ACCY
-AIR BAG
-CIGAR/ACCY
-DEFOG/SEATS
-WIPER/WASH
-WINDOWS
-I/P DIMMER
-RADIO

Try pulling this fuse from the main fuse block also but if the car doesn't start, replace it:
-GAGES

Pull the following fuses from the Underhood Electrical Center:
-R HDLP DR
-L HDLP DR
-HORN
-AC-CRUISE

Hi
Had the same problem...but worst; the voltaje dropped to the red zone, ABS ligth turn on, car started to run like crap....etc...
I did this (don't know what did the trick): Cleaned all the grouds, followed the 12V to the fuse box inside the car, and finaly noticed the start switch (on the steering column) was a little brocken, replaced the start switch. Up to now everything is running great .
Hope this helps a little

What gounds did you clean? Funny you mention the ignition switch, my father told me to check that. (Guess he had a car come in with that problem) While the car was running, I jiggled it around in and out, front and back. Didn't affect the gauge. How was your's "broken"?

The car didnt start anything, then I arrive and gigle a little on the steering wheel and the car starts right up. Whess there is weare it all beggan

HAHAHA. Not yet. Work has been keeping me MORE THEN busy. I don't even have time to listen to my system half the time. :( Also, Jason, I pulled all the non-essential fuses out and there was no change. You have to have the gage fuse in for the car to start. I couldn't see if the voltage gauge would dip (because nothing had power to it) but the gauge was still reading hella low just sitting at idle. (about 11 volts)
