• What is the MOST MILES you have seen...

...on a 3.4 or 3.8? Just wondering how reliable/durable the motors are. My own is still relatively middle-aged at 111,000 and shows little or no signs of approaching death (oil consumption, smoking, etc.).

I have heard of a few that are around 220,000 without the engine being opened (owners used Mobil 1 after engine was broken in and swears by it). Anyone out there beat that?

Well, mine is at 165,000 odd miles on a 2k model. I used to run it with Mobil one synthetic and changed it with Quaker Oil High Hp/Mileage synthetic blend. It had a slow oil leak at the rear main seal but that disappeared. It has a whitish smoke @ WOTs but the engine isn't loosing any oil or loosing any oil pressure. No misfire or hesitation from it either. No knocks or pings.

3.4 and 3.8 are generally strong engines that will last well over 100k if maintained properly. I'm expecting to get close to 200k out of mine.

and yeh I use only mobil1 with premium filter (that has high mulipass efficiency)

I honestly don't think the high dollar synthetic is needed if you change your oil regularly... but its your money

I do believe there is somebody on the board with like 284k on a 3.4 ... can't remember who.

Mine has just under 175k. Something like 174,???. The previous owner has all the receipts from oil changes every 3,000 miles. And people say American cars can't last long, pff.

I saw in an article in the auto section of Newspaper a few yrs ago where this guy wrote in on his 3.8 94 Boneville with 320,000 miles on it and he only changed one item on it, like an alternator or something.
